MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING SIGNED BETWEEN THE INSTITUTE OF SMART CITY AND MANAGEMENT (UEH - ISCM) AND THE LEE KUAN YEW CENTRE FOR INNOVATIVE CITIES
On July 17, 2024, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City - represented by the Institute of Smart City and Management) and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (represented by the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This event was part of the 2nd International Conference on Resilience by Technology and Design, held in both Ho Chi Minh City and Vinh Long.
The Institute of Smart City and Management and the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities have a long history of collaboration, having conducted numerous research projects, short-term exchange programs, seminars, workshops, and webinars on technology application topics. Notable collaborative efforts include the “Survey on Citizen Satisfaction with Urban Management and Development in Ho Chi Minh City” research project, and more recently, the “International Short Course on Smart City and Technology - the Case of Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore.” , which is also known as the Junior Researchers Program aimed at nurturing young talents in conducting interdisciplinary research to address existing urban issues.
Building on these collaborations, UEH - ISCM and SUTD - LKYCIC have reinforced their shared vision of effectively addressing urban challenges in ASEAN, thereby fostering a smart and sustainable urban community ready to adapt to future changes. This shared vision forms the foundation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties.
As part of the International Conference on Resilience by Technology and Design, the MoU signing ceremony was witnessed by experts and professors from around the world.
With the MoU, both institutions aim to undertake more in-depth research on urban issues, share academic expertise, offer short-term courses, and organize various exchange programs targeted at diverse groups, particularly students and researchers. One of the noteworthy programs is the Junior Researchers Program, expected to be held annually. This collaboration promises to inspire and cultivate future generations, as well as together develop the smart and sustainable urban communities.

The RTD 2024 International Scientific Conference “Resilience by Technology and Design” is organized by the UEH School of Technology and Design and the UEH Vinh Long Campus, bringing together top leaders, professors, scholars, and reputable experts from both domestic and international fields of technology, design, arts, management, and planning. This is a significant event not to be missed for learning and connecting with the academic community dedicated to sustainable development.
