ISCM 5th Anniversary Celebration: Symphony of Future Cities
The year 2025 marks the 5th anniversary of the Institute of Smart City and Management (ISCM), University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH). ISCM was established in May 2020 and officially launched in September 2020. Therefore, September 2025 has been chosen as the milestone for this commemorative celebration.
This anniversary not only signifies an important milestone in reaffirming ISCM’s steadfast journey with its educational philosophy and pioneering vision but also serves as an occasion to highlight its enduring commitment to the core values of Integration, Innovation, and Practical Impact. Throughout this journey, ISCM has consistently connected education, research, and practice, as well as academia and community, to co-create sustainable and smart cities.
With the vision “To be a leading institution contributing to a sustainable and smart community,” ISCM pursues its missions:
We promote diversity, inclusion and environmental sustainability across research.
We empower learners to become responsible and responsive leaders who shape a sustainable future for society.
We develop an integrated platform that connects people, environments, and infrastructure to foster innovation and address global challenges.
The slogan “Shaping the unknown future” reflects ISCM’s pioneering spirit and commitment to exploring uncharted paths in a rapidly changing and challenging world.
With the theme “Symphony of Future Cities,” the ISCM – UEH 5th Anniversary Celebration will be held on September 29, 2025, bringing together local and international partners from educational institutions, research organizations, local authorities, businesses, and NGOs. The event will create a space for sharing visions, experiences, and inspirations to co-compose a symphony of knowledge, creativity, and action for future cities.
Program highlights include:
An inspiring keynote speech by Dr. Park Sang Woo, former Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport of Korea, on the topic “From Innovation to Harmony: Smart Cities for All.”
A tribute to individuals, organizations, and partners who have accompanied ISCM throughout its five-year journey.
A reflection on ISCM’s five-year development (2020–2025), highlighting achievements in research, education, international collaboration, knowledge transfer, and community engagement.
Strategic orientation:
By 2030, ISCM will continue to accompany UEH on its journey to become a multidisciplinary and sustainable university, while also aligning with global trends and fulfilling its own mission.
By 2045, ISCM will grow in alignment with UEH’s vision to become a leading university–city hub innovation in Asia, keeping pace with global trends in smart cities, innovation, sustainability, and inclusiveness.
The 5th Anniversary is an opportunity for ISCM to look back on its journey, express gratitude for the support of its community, and move forward together toward new horizons—where knowledge, creativity, and social responsibility converge to shape the unknown future.
