Workshop “Route2School: Smart Education for the Digital Generation”

In recent years, although the overall traffic accident situation across the country has shown a downward trend, a concerning reality is that the number of traffic accidents involving students is significantly increasing. This not only highlights the urgent need to raise awareness about traffic safety, but also points to the necessity of changing the behavior of students. They not only need to clearly understand traffic regulations but also must practice and apply that knowledge in their daily lives.

As part of a series of activities designed specifically for first-year students (K51) at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) in general, and students from the Institute of Smart City and Management (ISCM) in particular, the workshop titled “Route2School: Smart Education for the Digital Generation” — organized by the Institute of Smart City and Management (ISCM) — will provide freshmen with an engaging traffic safety learning platform called “Route2School Education.” This platform was originally developed by the Transportation Research Institute (IMOB) at Hasselt University, Belgium.

By participating in the workshop, K51 freshmen will have the opportunity to experience a specially designed version of “Route2School Education” tailored for Vietnamese teenagers. This version incorporates gamification with real-life traffic scenarios specific to the local context, making it easier to absorb knowledge and apply it practically.

Notably, this workshop will be conducted in a personalized format to accommodate each participant’s schedule. The program will span five sessions, with the first session held in person at UEH. The remaining sessions will take place online via the Zalo community group “Route2school Edu Community.” This learning format is not only convenient but also highly beneficial for smart citizens in the digital age, helping students easily access and exchange traffic safety knowledge effectively.
